Late winter into early spring can be a challenging time for birds. With depleted natural food sources and coming off of a long winter, they need extra nutrition for upcoming nesting. Conserving their energy remains important, and certain types of feeders can make this challenging for some types of birds. Enter the "birdcuteries" (or "chirpcuteries") that are trending lately. The idea is to put together a tray of bird friendly food and set it out for easy access for our feathered friends. Ideally, the platter should be on the shallow side, and have a little ridge for easy perching.

We've decided to give this a try. We purchased a package of disposable plates, and a variety of bird food and put together our own little platter and waited to see the neighborhood birds reactions.
