Thanksgiving Day Activities

We enjoy mostly spending time at home over the holiday, and putting up our Christmas decorations the day after Thanksgiving. It's a good weekend for playing games, cooking, baking: just taking time to be together without a lot of other commitments.

If you're up for an outing or two, there's the opportunity in many communities on Thanksgiving day to volunteer to help serve a meal to those in need. Check with your local parish or community center to see what may be available.

If you like to get out and get a little exercise before a big meal, several cities host a Turkey Trot, usually a 5K. It's a great way to work up an appetite for the big meal!

This year, we'll be going to our communities tree lighting ceremony, being held on Thanksgiving evening, complete with music and warm drinks. It should be lots of fun!
